TomTom has announced a partnership with MapQuest, wholly owned by AOL, to power the company’s mobile app with TomTom maps. Available for Android and iOS, MapQuest’s free apps provide access to a wireless version of the well-known MapQuest website.
TomTom has signed a global, multi-year agreement to provide maps and traffic data for the Uber driver app.
TomTom’s advanced map-making technology, combined with its world class traffic information, will ensure Uber has a seamless navigation experience, accurate arrival times and efficient journeys in more than 300 cities around the world.

According to TomTom its latest product offering will enable even faster journeys for drivers by calculating routes based on actual weather conditions. As well as providing precise traffic jam information, TomTom Traffic now warns drivers about upcoming slow moving traffic due to heavy rain or snow.
TomTom has announced a multi-year deal with Acer, to bring its navigation technology to new Acer smartphones. Initial roll-out will begin with Europe in the fourth quarter of 2014.
‘AcerNAV’ is a turn-by-turn navigation application powered by TomTom’s navigation engine, NavKit. The new app enables users to navigate anywhere in the world, without extra roaming charges, and the ability to download any TomTom map for free.
