TomTom and ParkWhiz offer parking solutions in US and Canada

The telematics business of data provider TomTom is to be snapped up by the European arm of Bridgestone in a €910m cash deal.
Part of the Bridgestone Corporation tyre empire, Bridgestone Europe says the deal will speed up its “journey to becoming a mobility solutions leader in the region”.

TomTom has announced the availability of its MultiNet suite of map products in Esri’s file geodatabase format. Large TomTom datasets may now be consumed directly by Esri applications in a file geodatabase format that is configurable within the customer’s environment, saving time and effort for GIS professionals. The geodatabase format enables Esri users to utilise their TomTom data within multiuser access and editing environments for desktop, server and mobile environments.
Zenith Hygiene Group is saving almost 600 tonnes of CO2 a year with TomTom fleet management technology, enabled by Vodafone, according to independent research. Zenith’s estimated 597-tonne saving was achieved with TomTom’s tracking, navigation and ecoPlus devices installed across its vehicle fleet. The vehicles use Vodafone’s global machine-to-machine services which enable businesses to connect, monitor and manage devices across the world.
PTV has launched Version 2 of its free truck parking Europe app for iOS 7 and Android, providing truck drivers with a wide range of new functions to help them find suitable truck parking spaces. These new features allow them to find, assess, add and edit information on truck parking facilities even more easily. Drivers can now also enter the occupancy status of HGV parking spaces; the app new includes more than 12,000 truck parking spaces.
