TomTom and ParkWhiz offer parking solutions in US and Canada
TomTom is integrating its maps with ParkWhiz’s database of parking facilities across the US and Canada to help drivers navigate more quickly to parking destinations. TomTom will allow drivers to view, reserve and pay for parking from their vehicles.

UK company Smart Parking Technology has begun the installation of 225 RFID-equipped SmartEye vehicle detection sensors, linked via SmartLink data transmitters, in some of Cardiff’s central parking hotspots.
The company’s SmartPark system is intended to make it easier for drivers in the city to find a parking space, enabling them to make better informed decisions about their parking location and seek parking in less occupied streets close to their desired destination.

Parking services provider Parkopedia is to collaborate with Apple in a deal that will allow Apple Map users to view key information on more than 40 million parking spaces in 75 countries around the world.
In addition, users will have the option to click through to Parkopedia's website and iOS app to view more detailed information including pricing, user reviews, special offers and real-time space availability. They will also be able to make reservations.
VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland’s robot car Marilyn is parking autonomously - 100m away from its driver. The trial in Tampere uses the Internet of Things (IoT) and is expected to allow vehicles to park closer together without fear of collisions at airports and shopping centres. Johan Scholliers, project manager at VTT, says the technology will also help reduce congestion in parking areas.
