TomTom and ParkWhiz offer parking solutions in US and Canada
TomTom is integrating its maps with ParkWhiz’s database of parking facilities across the US and Canada to help drivers navigate more quickly to parking destinations. TomTom will allow drivers to view, reserve and pay for parking from their vehicles.

Newpark Solutions has been awarded a major contract to install the latest Fusion ticketless pay-on-foot parking system at over 40 woods and forests across the UK managed by the Forestry Commission. The first two installations have already been completed to handle over 1000 car parking spaces situated at Alice Holt, a Royal forest in Hampshire, and Moors Valley Country Park in Dorset.
The Forestry Commission charges for vehicle access within these forests to supplement government funding and assist with
TomTom has announced it is targeting substantial cost savings in 2012 through a reorganisation and reducing some 10 per cent of the workforce. A company statement said that its research and development activities will be regrouped in ten product units - maps, traffic, navigation, automotive systems, PNDs, fleet services, fitness, mobile, POIs and speedcams - in a drive to increase development efficiency and reduce time to market.
Truck Parking Europe, the free app for the location of truck parking facilities, now includes a reservation platform enabling truck operators and drivers to book safe truck parking facilities in advance on the web and via the app. The reservation platform can be connected to any parking reservation system in Europe and sends a reservation request to the truck park operator.
In a move which the TomTom Telematics says will give companies in both countries access to its fleet management technology TomTom has launched its Webfleet fleet management platform in Chile and Mexico.
Webfleet provides greater visibility into fleet operations, combining professional navigation and world-class traffic information with award-winning driver improvement technology to help business drivers spend less time on the road and to use less fuel.
