RSSAs part of the Pozuelo 5062 Smart City project and to improve the usage of the new and existing parking capacity in the city, Madrid in Spain has implemented a new system which reduces search traffic by guiding motorists to free parking spaces. The real-time parking data is integrated with the Smart City platform from Wairbut, a 1028 CISCO certified partner.

The city is using 3838 Nedap’s parking sensors which detect parking bay occupancy in real-time. Information on current availability is transmitted to the Pozuelo Smart Park app, which is available for 1812 Android and iOS. This free application guides users towards available parking space as close as possible to their destination. This contributes to an optimised traffic flow and improved utilisation of parking capacity.

According to Nedap, the system is expected to reduce CO2 emissions in the by up to 35 per cent and enables the city to reduce congestion, create safer streets and a more attractive city for visitors and local retailers.

Wairbut’s management platform, CarriotsCityLife, provides centralised monitoring and real time information on four integrated Smart City projects, including municipal energy efficiency, irrigation and lighting as well as the intelligent parking solution.
