McCain has been chosen by retail group Vestar to install its Optipark Parking Guidance System in the city of Pleasant Hill, California.

The system will be installed at a parking garage at the corner of Boyd Road and Contra Costa Boulevard. It offers 662 parking spaces and currently has a legacy magnetic loop parking system.

The company says the system uses single-space camera-based detection at decision points that apply object recognition and path tracking to identify available parking spaces.

According to McCain, Optipark’s software collects and analyses vehicular data, which can then share space availability via apps, websites and variable message signs (VMS).

As part of the deal, McCain will supply 537 VMS at all garage entrances on each level of the carpark to help drivers save time finding an open space.
