7714 Kustom Signals is set to add the LaserCam 4 LR, a new long range lens accessory for the LaserCam 4 enforcement camera which will be introduced this year.

The LaserCam 4 LR is an optical lens accessory that increases the operational range to provide video or photo evidence that can identify registration plates, depending on region, at approximately 400m (1312 feet).

According to the company, not only does the LaserCam 4 offers image resolution of plates at longer distances, it has faster acquisition time and provides a comprehensive video record of the tracking history.

Other features including AutoTrak which continually zooms with target tracking to optimise target-specific speed measurements and simplify use.

A new generation of video compression can lower transmission costs of data and make streaming from mobile and body-worn cameras a reality, as Colin Sowman discovers. Bandwidth limitations have long been the bottleneck restricting the expanded use of video streaming for ITS, monitoring and surveillance purposes. Recent years have seen this countered to some degree by the introduction of ‘edge processing’ whereby ANPR, incident detection and other image processing is moved into (or close to) the camera, so

Colin Sowman discovers how the latest systems can boost productivity and reduce conflict in parking enforcement. Parking enforcement is something of a ‘Cinderella’ service for local authorities: while necessary to keep the roads open and the traffic flowing, it is an expensive operation and can be loss-making. It is also labour intensive and parking enforcement officers are routinely verbally abused and sometimes physically attacked. Some authorities are now looking to automate parking enforcement in orde

The UK’s Hampshire Constabulary’s Safer Roads Unit has recently introduced new mobile speed enforcement technology to combat excessive speeds on the county’s roads. The LASERwitness Lite from Truvelo comprises laser speed measurement and digital video technology, combined with built in infra-red illumination for night time operation. The unit is extremely compact and can even be deployed from a police motorcycle if desired. This is beneficial in those locations where there is no suitable parking for a spe
