European certification: Commsignia's ITS OB-4 unit

The manufacturer’s ITS OB-4 OBU and ITS RS-4 RSU have acquired the certificate of the European Radio Emissions Directive – and this allows them to be marketed in the European Union.

The ITS-RS4 acts as a local hub for sensor data exchange as well as an application which can improve safety for road users and optimise traffic.

It gathers information from traffic cameras, traffic light controllers, sensors, V2X-connected vehicles and bikes.

A deep neural network/graphics processing unit accelerated artificial intelligence processor creates a real-time representation of the information to create a dynamic model of the environment, the company adds.

According to Commsignia, the ITS-OB4 offers improved performance coupled with the V2X software stack. It offers built-in tamper-proof hardware security module and a high range V2X radio.

It would be easy to fall into the trap of seeing machine vision as the vision-based solution for ITS and traffic, however Patrik Anderson, Director Business Development Transportation of Axis Communications, notes that many of the applications which are coming to be associated with machine vision – and, indeed, many of the characteristics, such as at-the-edge analytics and image processing – are also possible with open-standard networked video. Networked video brings a whole host of advantages, such as the

    April 24, 2025

As the push for intelligent transportation systems accelerates, cellular Vehicle-to-Everything (C-V2X) technology is set to revolutionize vehicle communication for connected mobility and smart city deployments.

However, developing, testing, and optimising V2X applications requires a robust, flexible solution that accommodates real-world field testing and real-time communication.

Ettifos, V2X solutions provider, will be in Seville exhibiting Sirius, its Software-defined Modem (SDM) C-V2X platform, which provides just that.
