Traffic management and enforcement specialist 7513 Videalert has launched an electric mobile enforcement bike.

The BMW C Evolution e-scooter will enable councils “to enforce a wide range of moving traffic, parking and clean air zone contraventions whilst demonstrating their commitment to reducing emissions”, Videalert says.

The company points out that other bike brands can be used “if required” but the BMW has a range of up to 160km plus intelligent energy recuperation when braking and accelerating.

It has two dual camera units, one facing forward and one back, each with ANPR and a colour camera which captures video evidence.

Videalert says the ONVIF-compliant HD cameras deliver capture rates of up to 98% with a single pass at normal road speeds, which “dramatically increases productivity and reduces the total cost of ownership”.

The on-board systems are automatic and require no manual operation.

Separately, the company has extended its contract with Bath and North East Somerset Council, installing additional CCTV cameras for its class C clean air zone (CAZ).

It gives exemptions to private cars but charges higher polluting buses, coaches, HGVs, vans and taxis. Videalert’s task is to integrate its products with the council’s existing hosted digital video platform which is being used to enforce restrictions including bus lanes, bus gates and permit parking.

Videalert says it will be installing HD ANPR cameras to enforce the new CAZ scheme at key road junctions across the designated boundary.
