UK county opts for SPECS average speed enforcement

Jenoptik’s SPECS3 Vector average speed enforcement cameras are to be installed in Lancashire, UK, on eight routes in the county which are being targeted in a bid to cut down casualty rates. Work began on 9 January on the first route, with enforcement likely to begin around March. The seven other routes will have a staggered installation period with all cameras in force by the end of 2017. 79 Jenoptik’s SPECS3 Vector average speed enforcement cameras are to be installed in Lancashire, UK, on eight routes in the county which are being targeted in a bid to cut down casualty rates. Work began on 9 January on the first route, with enforcement likely to begin around March. The seven other routes will have a staggered installation period with all cameras in force by the end of 2017.

The routes across Lancashire have seen a total of four hundred and six casualties with sixty two people suffering serious or life changing injuries since 2011.

Geoff Collins, sales and marketing director for Jenoptik Traffic Solutions UK commented: “Based on our experience of almost 100 permanent SPECS installations, I fully expect these Lancashire routes to become safer as the installations progress”.
