International Road Dynamics (IRD) has been awarded a four-year, Can$5.5m deal by Indiana DoT (InDoT) to provide Weigh in Motion equipment and services.

IRD will be issued task orders by InDoT to provide electronic equipment, software and services required to build, reconstruct, test, calibrate and maintain WiM and virtual WiM systems - which have web access and image capture - for the agency.

IRD's role will be to help InDoT to work out what solution is required at each site, depending on the traffic data which needs to be collected there.

Web access with image capture "provides a more powerful real-time tool for commercial vehicle weight screening", the companies say in a statement.

They will collaborate closely as system enhancements and upgrades occur.

“We continue to grow our maintenance and service business, as well as provide 'as-a-service' offerings," said Rish Malhotra, IRD president and CEO.

"IRD has a long-standing partnership with InDoT and with this contract, we will extend our relationship to ensure the success of their WiM and virtual WiM programmes.”
