National Highways is responsible for England's motorways and major A-roads, and Shaw's speech will focus on priorities, including the Road Investment Strategy 2 (RIS2), which sets out plans for the development and improvement of the strategic road network to ensure safety, reliability and efficiency.

Shaw joined National Highways in September 2016 and was appointed to the board in January this year. His remit includes responsibility for the strategic development of the network, and relationships with key statutory and regulatory bodies.

He has a Masters in Public Administration (MPA) from Harvard University, and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Highways and Transportation.

There will be two new theatres at Traffex – Management and Mobility, and Safety and Sustainability – with presentations, panel discussions and workshops focusing on topics such as artificial intelligence, traffic enforcement, data and digital twinning.

The Institute of Highway Engineers will be providing Continuing Professional Development certification and visitors can collect CPD points on the IHE stand or post-event.
