Q-Free unveils WiM classification solution

Hi-Trac TMU4X is intermodal and expected to integrate with cycle and pedestrian monitoring

Q-Free has formally launched Hi-Trac TMU4X, a multimodal, Weigh in Motion (WiM) and data collection solution offering automatic vehicle classification along with pedestrian and cyclist data counts.

The new product is a development of the Hi-Trac TMU4 and is going into full production for global distribution following pilots in North America, Asia and the Gulf.

Q-Free developed the new product to double the unit's detection capacity up to 16 lanes. 

The company says it has built more client wishlist capabilities, creating a solution with greater processing power for integration with automatic number plate recognition, cctv cameras, Lidar systems and variable message signs.

“In many ways, our customers designed this solution," suggests Tony Di Monaco, head of sales for Q-Free UK.

"Virtually every thought, every idea we built into it was the result of a conversation with an existing or future client. Customers get to choose the components that make sense for them rather than having to buy multiple devices to accomplish the same goal.”

The TMU4X integrates with scanners, overhead signage and other traffic management devices.

The company insists TMU4X can use any third-party sensor or device, making it more cost-effective. 

According to Q-Free, the solution supports sustainable transportation and road safety initiatives and can download and analyse data in real time, with built-in 3G/4G network, integrated Ethernet or USB 2.0 interface.
