Visitors to next week's ITS World Congress 2024 in Dubai will be able to meet leading UK-based transport technology companies at breakfast networking sessions.

At the UK Pavilion on Wednesday 18 September at 10:30am, the Meet the ITS Nationals breakfast will take place, with counterparts from ITS national associations from across Europe. Visitors will meet experts from across the continent and hear presentations from Europe’s Network of National ITS Associations (ITS Nationals) chair Dónal Hodgins and ITS UK chief executive Max Sugarman.

Meanwhile, on Friday 20 September at 8:30am, the UK Pavilion will see the official launch by the UK city of Birmingham of its programme to host the ITS World Congress 2027. The West Midlands Combined Authority will host a breakfast reception where visitors will hear insights into what the event will hold, from Transport for West Midlands, the UK government, ITS UK and Ertico.

“The Dubai Congress really will fire the starting gun on the build-up to Birmingham 2027,” said Chris Lane, head of transport innovation at Transport for West Midlands and who is leading the Birmingham Congress’s organisation for the UK.

“We are very much looking forward to meeting visitors in Dubai and welcoming them to the National Exhibition Centre [in Birmingham]. It’s also a great chance for a dozen of our ITS leaders who’ll no doubt be centre-stage in three years’ time, to have some initial conversations.”

“The UK Pavilion is establishing itself as a central hub of networking at World and European Congresses,” noted Kerry Winstanley, director of the UK’s Local Council Roads Innovation Group. “We look forward to welcoming visitors from around the globe to meet informally and learn more about the great innovations the UK is delivering to international ITS.”

Aecom, AGD Systems, Angoka, Aurrigo, Clearview Intelligence, Immense, Neology, Nicander, Now Wireless, Starling Technologies, Westcotec and Zenzic are supporting the UK Pavilion and will have staff on-stand all week to meet visitors.

“We’re really looking forward to hosting a breakfast reception on the UK Pavilion with the ITS Network of Nationals, the body of some 30 European ITS membership organisations,” said ITS UK’s Sugarman. “ITS UK is proud to be supporting the breakfast on the Friday too, which will mark the road to the World Congress taking place in Birmingham in 2027.”
