New York's Nassau Inter-County Express (Nice) Bus has expanded its mobile ticketing services with the launch of the Transit app's fare payment option.

The Transit app combines fare payment, real-time tracking, crowding information and multimodal connections.

Nice CEO Jack Khzouz says: "By enabling riders to plan, track, and pay for their trips in one place, Nice Bus is providing customers with reliable and intuitive service at every step of their journey. This new partnership with Transit will allow us to better connect with ridership while providing data on multimodal ridership demand.”

Nice says more than 40,000 of its bus riders already use Transit monthly to plan and track trips.

Users can create a Transit account and enter their credit card information to purchase a ticket. When boarding, they display the activated pass to their driver for visual validation.

Transit used Masabi's Justride software development kit to facilitate the integration, which rounds out a host of fare payment options, including Nice GoMobile and Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) MetroCard.

Nice describes mobile ticketing is another way to maintain safety during the pandemic as touch-free payment limits contact between drivers and riders.

Tickets purchased in Transit are valid only for Nice Bus and are not valid on MTA, Long Beach or Suffolk County Transit.

Transit is available for free on iPhone and Android devices.
