Flowbird has won an award for enabling passengers to access and pay for multimodal travel using contactless bank cards and smartphones.

The company received the EuMo Expo Innovation Award at a digital version of the European mobility exhibition.

Flowbird was named the winner after receiving the greatest number of votes cast online by virtual visitors to the event.

Francois Mottet, head of product management and strategy at Flowbird Transport Intelligence, says: “For passengers, our open payments systems mean easier, faster and more streamlined access to transport services, while operators benefit from a more efficient fare collection and ticketing process, with lower risk of non-payment."

“Travellers also benefit from a ‘best fare’ guarantee for individual journeys without needing to navigate sometimes complex journey and fares rules, while for people making multiple journeys over a given timeframe, fare capping rules can be automatically applied,” Mottet continues.

“All this is managed in a cloud-enabled back office, along with a secure revenue settlement process for operators.”

The EuMo Expo digital show attracted manufacturers, operators, engineering companies, electronic payment and ticketing companies involved in the mobility movement from across Europe.
