A consortium comprising Thales, Lyko, Jatelindo and Aino is to provide a Mobility as a Service (MaaS) solution for Indonesia's capital, Jakarta.

The Jatelindo consortium has been awarded an eight-year contract by public transport operator Jaklingko Indonesia to deploy and operate a ticketing platform and MaaS application.

With around 30 million people, the Greater Jakarta region is the world's third largest metropolis.

Jatelindo is supported by micromobility giant Grab, which has just announced plans to float on Nasdaq.

The new MaaS platform is expected to have more than one million active users and will allow for several million trips per month.

Lyko is providing the technology and API platform to connect the MaaS user interface to the distribution systems of more than 2,000 transportation operators, as well as its intermodal trip planning algorithms.

"We are aware of the challenge ahead," says Laurent Bouzon, CEO & co-founder of Lyko. "But this project is a excellent way for Lyko to demonstrate our business and technological expertise."

Jatelindo Perkasa Abadi (Jatelindo) is a national electronic payment provider, while Aino Indonesia is a payment processing company which already operates in bus rapid transit, tolling and parking.

This is why we decided to run MaaS under real conditions and launch the Gothenburg pilot scheme in 2013.” The trial involved 70 households paying €130/month for 6 months with participants agreeing that 20 cars could be put into storage. More than 12,000 bookings/transactions took place during the trial and there were no drop-outs. Ac
