Moscow's night bus service now includes 16 express routes

Transfers between buses, electric buses and trams in Russia's capital Moscow are now free for the first 90 minutes from the start of the trip.

A free transfer is expected to save money for around 500,000 people per year.

Maksim Liksutov, deputy mayor of Moscow for Transport, says those who already use transfers will be able to save ₽11,000 a year.

Passengers can switch between surface transport for free using the Troika card linked to their account in the Moscow Metro app or on the website

Previously, free transfers were only available on transfers between the metro and the Moscow Central Circle and the Moscow Central Diameter rail services.

Separately, the city's night bus service has expanded to include 16 express routes.

“For almost eight years of operation, night buses have transported more than 8,2 million passengers and this figure is growing up every year,” Liksutov continues.

“In addition, the increase in the number of night routes gives an important boost to the city's economy and allows for faster development of a high-quality urban environment.”

Passengers can access the service using the Toika card or contactless bank card from 1:00 am to 5:30 am.
