Ride-hailing company Bolt is to offer Londoners £250,000 worth of free transport to Covid-19 vaccination centres, according to a report by City AM

The move follows the UK government's plans to vaccinate the country's oldest and most vulnerable people by mid-February.

Bolt’s chief executive Markus Villig is quoted as saying: “This vaccine is key to restoring our lives back to normal – to return to work, to school, to socialising and to get our economies moving again.”

Bolt has around 50,000 drivers in the UK capital.

In a blog post, Bolt is now calling on organisations or individuals who are responsible for the vaccine’s deployment in London to reach out.

It is also interested in hearing from corporations and non-profits who may be interested in supporting the initiative.

Bolt has also been focusing on ramping up sustainability within its micromobility operations.

Last September, the firm committed to operating “climate positive” scooter operations by the end of 2020.

It came a few months after Bolt received the green light to re-launch its electric scooter service in two Spanish cities as the county made its first moves out of the coronavirus lockdown.

Elsewhere in the micromobility space, Lime and CityMapper entered an agreement to aid the recovery of sustainable transport in cities caused by Covid-19.
