602 U-Blox and 497 Trakm8, a UK-based provider of end-to-end telematics solutions deployed around the world, have announced a new, advanced remote vehicle monitoring system which relies on u blox' technology.

The web-based system, Trakm8 Swift, provides fleet operators with comprehensive real time and historical vehicle location and vehicle data information. The solution includes all hardware, software, and system integration services.

    The UK Highways Agency is trialling a system to add commercially available traffic data to its existing sources to monitor how well traffic is flowing on England's motorways and strategic roads. Similar data sources are already used by satellite navigation devices, smartphones, and applications like Google maps.
