These three locations are leading the charge to deploy advanced wireless communications technology in their vehicles and on their roads in regions throughout the nation. The web sites provide information on each area’s unique transportation challenges, plans for connected vehicle deployment, deployment partnerships, promotional materials, and more.
To help the public visualise their research and to recruit participants, each of the pilot sites has also unveiled new videos showcasing their deployments. The videos, available on YouTube, provide a closer glimpse of how the pilots are using the life-saving communications technology to improve the safety, mobility, and environmental sustainability of their roads.
Citilog and Axis Communications are highlighting their solutions to optimise traffic and transportation safety and efficiency. Advanced analytics from Citilog and the surveillance products from Axis are used to automatically identify traffic incidents and deviations in real time to help traffic management centres improve traffic flow and shorten response times. Almost a quarter (24%) of British people would be willing to fund smart city solutions using their own tax contributions, according to new research from ATG Access.
Part of road barrier specialist ATG’s ‘Smart cities: Turning the dream into a reality’ report, the research found that more than half (57%) would be happy for their tax to go towards smart traffic lights, and 44% for smarter signs which give real-time traffic updates.
