Strabag subsidiary to extend tunnel transmitter system for Vienna underground

Strabag subsidiary, communication systems and security solutions specialist Center Communication Systems, is to modernise and extend the tunnel transmitter system for the underground metropolitan railway (U-Bahn) in Vienna.

RSS3861 Strabag subsidiary, communication systems and security solutions specialist Center Communication Systems, is to modernise and extend the tunnel transmitter system for the underground metropolitan railway (U-Bahn) in Vienna.


The US$19.8 million contract with public transport operator 4203 Wiener Linien involves a 78.5 kilometre network with more than 100 stations.

Between now and July 2020, Center Communication Systems will extend and modernise the transmitters for the line and create a faster wireless network. The company will also roll out a TETRA emergency services network – the standard in digital communication for emergency and rescue services – as well as a 2 metre fire frequency system throughout the entire Vienna underground.
