State of Louisiana preparing for connected and autonomous vehicles

The 6174 Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has engaged 8285 Arcadis US to provide technical support services and facilitate planning activities related to connected and autonomous vehicles and their impact on highway infrastructure to prepare for the future of transportation.


The multi-year US$2 million contract includes developing the strategic implementation plan for connected and autonomous vehicle implementation and performing intelligent transportation systems architectures and system engineering analysis for connected and autonomous vehicles. The contract also covers providing similar services for transportation data mining and dissemination, electronic toll collection (ETC) systems, advanced traveller information systems and advanced transportation management systems.

As part of the project, Arcadis will analyse emerging technologies in roadway infrastructure, such as connected cars and vehicle to infrastructure and vehicle to vehicle technology.
