Germany-based 3264 PTV Group has acquired UK company Distribution Planning Software International Limited (DPS), with plans to expand the range of solutions from both companies. Both companies supply software to the transport logistics market and plan to expand the international market coverage of their products.

The DPS Route Optimiser product enhances the existing PTV product range by adding trip optimisation to its cloud solutions, providing logistics companies with easier access to powerful technology in today’s connected environments.

Both companies are active in the UK, Scandinavia and South Africa, while in North America, PTV is already well established in the traffic sector. With its cloud-based route scheduling, PTV Group has yet another product in its portfolio which will put it in a strong position to specifically target the logistics market.

    PTV Cloud-based Transport Route Planner
PTV has unveiled what it claims is a major new innovation: map & guide internet, the first cloud-based transport route planner. Hauliers and logistics companies may now use the map&guide software as a service (SaaS). They can simply plug in and use the software directly over the internet - saving time and money, since neither installation nor maintenance is required. PTV says the inexpensive solution, costing just €49 (US$65) per month, is particularly attractive for small and medium-sized businesses.
