RSS4984 Kapsch TrafficCom and UHF Gen 2 RFID solutions supplier 7732 Autofind Industrial have formed a strategic partnership with the aim of jointly providing end-to-end solutions for 6363 SINIAV (Sistema de Identificação Automática de Veículos), Brazil’s national electronic vehicle registration program.

SINIAV was initiated by Departamento Nacional de Trânsito which installs electronic tags in vehicles in order to provide a tool for the police to quickly and efficiently identify vehicles which are involved in crimes, or stolen or unregistered vehicles. It is planned that all states within Brazil will roll out SINIAV within the next couple of years so that the entire vehicle population of approximately 70 to 80 million vehicles, trucks, buses and motorcycles in Brazil are tagged and that roadside infrastructure for automatic monitoring of vehicles is in place all over the country.

As an acknowledged supplier of Toll collection and other intelligent transportation systems worldwide, Kapsch will contribute its roadside and back office solutions experience to successfully deploy and operate large scale and Nationwide systems, while Autofind will provide certified SINIAV tag and ancillary devices and their extensive understanding of the Brazilian environment.

Miguel Jauregui, Kapsch sales director for Latin America said: “We are excited about cooperation with Autofind, as it is an important step forward for us into the Brazilian market. We certainly believe that joining forces with Autofind will result in a very strong team, in a unique position to address the complexities of pushing forward SINIAV solutions in a unique manner providing local and worldwide experience in one group.”

Alexandre Rennó Siqueira, sales director of Autofind says: “Our products perfectly complement the offer from Kapsch allowing both companies to jointly offer SINIAV end-to-end solutions to Municipalities, State and national Agencies, and other organisations are interested in using the SINIAV standard.”

In addition, Kapsch Trafficom has won framework contracts to deliver at least three million latest generation on-board units (OBUs) for electronic Toll collection to Chile, Denmark, France and Spain over the next four years.

"Our intensive efforts in recent years are now bearing fruit. In the past six months, we were able to open new and strategically important markets for us," explains André Laux, executive board member of Kapsch TrafficCom AG. "Besides the years of experience the main reason for its commissioning were, above all, cost efficiency, the logistics services offered and the unmatched delivery capacity thanks to multiple production sites.
