4187 Idle Free Systems, a leading provider of year-round idle elimination solutions for trucks and school buses, has announced a new business partnership with 4188 AmeriQuest Transportation Services through which the Idle Free electric APU system will be the first electric idle-elimination solution to be available directly to AmeriQuest members.

AmeriQuest Transportation Services, with more than 1,500 customers representing 700,000 vehicles, is a privately-held transportation services company. As Jim Sweeny, VP of capital equipment, points out, “While we have other APU suppliers, Idle Free is the first electric APU we’ve offered directly to members. It's true idle-elimination rather than just idle-reduction,” states Sweeney.

The Idle Free electric APU system is a complete idle-elimination system capable of meeting all driver needs – heat, air conditioning, and hotel needs – without relying on either a diesel engine or the truck’s starter batteries. The system, which is California Air Resources Board (CARB) compliant and an 4189 EPA SmartWay verified technology,  completely eliminates the need to idle a vehicle without ever jeopardising the productivity of the truck.
