eCall: Where do we go from here?

With eCall mandated in Europe for new types of cars from October 2015, how can the broader global concept of emergency call move forward and take advantage of this in-vehicle technology?

The 374 Ertico Partnership is hosting a one-day forum in Brussels on 7 November 2013 to examine the future development of automated emergency call (eCall) and how it may be integrated into a wider telematics platform.  With eCall mandated in Europe for new types of cars from October 2015, how can the broader global concept of emergency call move forward and take advantage of this in-vehicle technology?
 
Discussions and debates will take place around a series of topics, such as: the status of Emergency Call once eCall is deployed; challenges to enable further business opportunities; the potential of new technologies and new services within Emergency Call and beyond eCall.

    Chinese ride-hailing company DiDi Chuxing is to expand to 14 cities in Chile by the end of the year, according to a report by China Daily. Mi Yang, DiDi's head of operations in Latin America, says the company is aiming to provide a safe mobility service which will include an emergency hotline allowing passengers to communicate with the team.
