Driver assisted truck platooning, enabled by V2V communications, offers substantial fuel economy and safety benefits for long haul trucking.  A project started in 2013 under the 831 Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Exploratory Advanced Research program has funded 2006 Auburn University, Peloton, Peterbilt Trucks, Meritor-4319 Wabco, and the 5478 American Transportation Research Institute to investigate technical performance and the practical aspects of integrating this type of system into a modern trucking operation.

This webinar will provide an overview of the project, results to date, and future plans.

    Ride-hailing companies could face taxes in San Francisco
    Ride-hailing companies could be taxed for starting their journeys in San Francisco following a bill signed by California governor Jerry Brown. The bill - AB 1184 - calls for a 3.25% tax on net rider fares for single-party trips, or those provided by an autonomous vehicle, as well as a 3.25% tax on shared rides.     Zenuity, a joint venture between vehicle solution manufacturer Veoneer and Volvo Cars, is to trial self-driving cars on Swedish highways at a maximum speed of 80km/h.
