Alstom invests in EasyMile

Alstom is taking a minority stake in EasyMile, a start-up company developing the EZ10 electric driverless shuttle. The two plan to develop integrated solutions for urban transportation. 8158 Alstom is taking a minority stake in 8246 EasyMile, a start-up company developing the EZ10 electric driverless shuttle. The two plan to develop integrated solutions for urban transportation.

The EZ10 is capable of transporting up to 12 passengers and operates from a transport hub to a final destination within a precinct or defined area.
 
According to Alstom, the investment will enable it to expand its expertise into driverless technology and development of smart mobility technology.  EasyMile will benefit from Alstom’s network to increase its global reach.

    Australia’s Northern Territories Government has launched a six-month trial of autonomous vehicles in Darwin, which will see a driverless vehicle carrying passengers along the city’s waterfront. The trial of the EasyMile EZ10 driverless vehicle will commence early in 2017, transporting passengers Waterfront precinct to Stokes Hill Wharf on a repeat loop. The fully autonomous vehicle provides zero emissions when operating, is fully air-conditioned and capable of carrying up to 12 passengers at one time.

    EasyMile selected for autonomous shuttle project in Minnesota
    The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) has chosen French driverless technology company EasyMile to lead its autonomous shuttle bus pilot project. According to MnDOT, this will be the first cold climate test in the US. EasyMile will use its EZ10 electric shuttle on MnDOT’s pavement test facility, MnROAD. Testing will include how the shuttle operates in snow and ice conditions, at low temperatures and on roads with salt.

    EasyMile has partnered with Iveco, Sector, Transpolis, Isae-supaero, Ifsttar, Inria, and Michelin to integrate autonomous technology into a full-size 12-meter bus.
