The US Department of Transportation (USDOT) has developed a new fact sheet to encourage planning agencies to consider how their local transportation systems will function in a connected vehicle environment.

The 324 US Department of Transportation (USDOT) has developed a new fact sheet to encourage planning agencies to consider how their local transportation systems will function in a connected vehicle environment.
The Planning for the Future of Transportation: Connected Vehicles and ITS fact sheet provides a quick overview of the ITS Joint Program Office's connected vehicle research activities and highlights key elements of performance-based planning and programming (PBPP) that present opportunities for addressing this connected vehicle environment.
These PBPP elements include: Strategic direction (Where do we want to go?); Planning analysis (How are we going to get there?); Programming (What will it take?); Implementation and Evaluation (How did we do?).

ITS Italy will host the final event of the European COMPASS (Optimised CO-Modal PASSenger Transport for reducing carbon emissions) project.
The 25-month project examined how social, economical, environmental and technological changes will affect transport and derived the key challenges for future policy and planning. Its results will be delivered at the final conference on 13 November in Rome and will include recommendations on improving data collection
in passenger transport.

The ITS European Congress 2014 in Helsinki will see a host of intelligent vehicle demonstrations, including the iMobility Challenge event, eco-driving test-drives and ecoDriver workshop.
The iMobility Challenge on 16 June will present test drives and interactive displays of new vehicle technologies to all visitors from 12:00 to 19:00.
After the opening ceremony at 14:15, a major highlight of the event will be the participation of Williams Mercedes F1 Driver, Valtteri Bottas, who will take a short driv
