2051 Brisa Innovation has launched its Audit Platform, which offers the ability to independently audit open road tolling (ORT) and vehicle counting systems using video footage and transaction matching over a multi-browser web-based interface.

The platform, which Brisa has used in-house at 200 sites covering 500 motorway lanes in both ORT and traffic counter sites across six road concessions, provides the user with a graphical interface for configuring sites, managing, scheduling and performing audits. The integrated multi-language environment produces summarised and detailed reporting, providing evidence for both compliant behaviour and issues regarding site performance.

Brisa has recently piloted the platform with diverse multi-national road operators, which it says have demonstrated its ability to work with multiple equipment providers and integrators, including older and legacy systems.

Taiwan’s 900 kilometres of toll roads will transition to all-electronic free flow operations early next year. The roads, which include three north-south routes with 22 toll points, carry out around 1.7 million transactions a day, generating some US$700 million of annual toll revenue. Private contractor Far Eastern Electronic Toll Collection Company (FETC), under contract to the National Freeway Bureau to collect the tolls, says that the IR-based toll system worked well and some 43 per cent of transactio
