TBTA chooses TransCore to build tolling system in New York City

MTA Bridges and Tunnels (TBTA) has asked TransCore to design and build toll system equipment for the Central Business District Tolling Program (CBDTP) in New York City.

The partners will work with the city’s department of transportation to install the toll system and infrastructure with the aim of reducing congestion and generating $15 million for the MTA 2020-2024 Capital Plan.

TransCore, a tolling systems integrator, will operate and maintain the infrastructure and tolling system for six years. The $507 million contract also includes incentive payments to encourage on-time delivery.

TBTA says the toll system will be mounted on infrastructure similar to existing mast arms and poles in the city so that it fits with existing streetscapes.

The proposal is expected to get final approval from the board.
