SSI deploys headlamp transponders in the Dominican Republic

Star Systems International (SSI) has completed the sale of 1.2 million ISO 18000-6C headlamp transponders to the Dominican Republic’s Internal Revenue Office Dirección General de Impuestos Internos (DGII). Star Systems International (SSI) has completed the sale of 1.2 million ISO 18000-6C headlamp transponders to the Dominican Republic’s Internal Revenue Office Dirección General de Impuestos Internos (DGII).

According to Ricardo Sanchez, commercial director of Thomas Copel, SSI’s local representative, the DGII is setting a new benchmark for Dominican Ministries that are looking to succeed in the implementation of leading-edge technology.

Commencing in the fall of 2015, these transponders will be installed on every motorcycle in the Dominican Republic.  A tracking system will use the transponders to help enforce compliance with the annual vehicle registration process.
