The tolling organisation says it will “look to reschedule it for later this year”.

“While the majority of registrants were still planning to attend, we determined that we must put the health and safety of our conference attendees, their families and our staff first,” it explained in a statement.

The decision was based on guidance from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the World Health Organisation regarding the “increasing scope of the coronavirus outbreak in the US and around the world.”

The announcement came prior to US president Donald Trump announcing a month-long travel ban which will stop visitors from most European countries entering the US from tomorrow.

IBTTA says that its website will be updated in the days ahead “with critical links for guidance, next steps, refunds and updates on future plans for this and other meetings”.
