IBTTA 2013 Toll Excellence award winners announced

RSSThe International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association (63 IBTTA), the worldwide transportation association has announced the winners of its 2013 Toll Excellence Award competition that recognises excellence, innovation and achievement in the tolling industry.

“This year’s submissions were particularly innovative,” said Patrick D. Jones, executive director and CEO of IBTTA. “There were many great examples of operations, technology, customer service and social responsibility, which made it difficult for our judges to select among all the entries. The awards also play an important role in highlighting new ideas and emerging practices throughout the international tolling industry.”

The 2013 Toll Excellence Award categories and winners are: for customer service the 752 State Road and Tollway Authority, I -85 Express Lanes, Atlanta, Georgia; for operations the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority (OTA) Disaster Recovery (Pikepass customer service centre destruction and rebuild); for social responsibility the E-470 Public Highway Authority solar powered toll road, Colorado; and for technology, the South African National Roads Agency SOC (2161 SANRAL) open road tolling project.

Awards will be presented on 23 September during IBTTA’s Annual Meeting and Exhibition in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. During the awards ceremony, one winner will be selected to receive the prestigious President’s Award for Excellence.
