US-based Gila is to partner with 81 Kapsch TraffiCom on an electronic toll collection system (ETCS) operations and maintenance contract for the toll roads owned and operated by the Puerto Rico Highways and Transportation Authority (PRHTA) and Autopistas Metropolitanas of Puerto Rico (Metropistas, an 6605 Abertis-5029 Goldman Sachs consortium).

The PRHTA selected Gila to provide comprehensive program management services including customer service centre management and operations for all toll roads within the island network in an effort to improve systems, decrease costs and enhance customer service. Gila partnered with Kapsch TrafficCom on the deal as Kapsch is the premier provider of electronic toll collection (ETC) equipment and maintenance.

“Bringing two best in class companies together is why we won this contract: Gila on the back office and customer service side and Kapsch on the design, build and operation of the ETC,” said Cummings.

Upgrading the lines to CBTC will allow London Underground to operate 32 trains an hour through central London. The project is due to be completed by 2022.
